Seth Pardis is the son of Helen Pardis, and King Silas' illegitimate son. King Silas loves and cares for Seth. Visiting Seth is one of Silas's favorite activities, and allows him to create the illusion for himself of a perfect world for a couple of hours or a weekend. Seth has a serious illness, which is a cause of great concern for Helen and King Silas, and has been known to tear him away from pressing national concerns.
